Dick’s interest in manufacturing applications led him to Arista Information Systems in North Carolina where he implemented MRP systems for companies such as Ingersoll Rand and Warner & Swasey in the early seventies. He and his staff developed MRP software with the first Master Scheduling capability in the industry. This software also had the first planning bill capability.
Ollie Wight recognized what Dick was accomplishing at Arista and he asked him to conduct “Hands on MRP” class for the Oliver Wight companies in 1974. Dick ran that class with Walt Goddard and in later years with Al Stevens and John Sari.
Ollie decided to expand his education offering and asked a number of people to join him to conduct education classes and consult with clients. Dick became an Education Associate in 1979 and worked with the Oliver Wight organization until 1992. He conducted classes in the US, the UK and Australia helping to grow the business and groom other instructors. Dick’s specialty was the Master Scheduling class which he authored.
Ollie Wight passed away in 1983 with cancer and Dick was tapped to be a teacher in the Top Management class. Dick was teaching a class in Chicago when he got some valuable feedback from a General Manager who was in attendance. He said “Dick, I don’t get it. You say that sales and marketing, finance, operations and engineering, need to be involved in aggregate planning which you call Production Planning. Why do you call It Production Planning”?
The term Sales and Operations planning was born. Dick launched the first Sales and Operations class for the Oliver Wight Companies in 1985.
In 1987, he co-authored the Book Orchestrating Success which was the first book about Sales and Operations Planning.
Dick began collaborating with Andy Coldrick, who had joined Oliver Wight in 1986.That collaboration lasted 28 years until Andy’s death in 2014. They worked together at Oliver Wight, and as a duo in Ling-Coldrick from 1006 till 2014. In 2009 they self-published “Breakthrough S&OP, An Assessment Guide”.
In 2011, Carol Ptak and Chad Smith were updating Olick’s MRP book and they asked Andy and Dick to write a chapter on S&OP. They were very glad to do that.

Georg started his professional career 2011 at BOSCH REXROTH AG working in different roles and positions in procurement and production planning, leading them to performance and stock reduction. As Georg is also a strong SAP specialist for MM, PP and WM, he supported the SAP Roll-Outs in Germany and Sweden with regard on process definition and set up of information flows.
2017 Georg joined as Project Manager the MANN+HUMMEL logistics team to foster the transformation and further development of the plant Speyer. He took responsibility for various projects in the arena of production planning, defining and re-engineering processes and information flows. With this, he is also responsible for the development, set up and roll out of the DDMRP pilot in Speyer, closely developed together with SAP and fostering the stock reduction program of the plant.

Debra A. Smith, CPA, EMBA, TOCICO, is the managing partner of Constraints Management Group (CMG) which she co-founded with Chad Smith in 1997. CMG is a services and technology company specializing in integrated pull-based manufacturing, materials and project management systems for mid-range and large manufacturers and their supply chains. CMG is the founder and a current Channel Partner and shareholder of Demand Driven Technologies. Together with her partners (past and present), CMG is responsible for much of the development and practical application of the methodology, processes and software development known as Demand Driven MRP, the Demand Driven Operating Model and Demand Driven Sales & Operations Planning. In between founding CMG and her career in public accounting with Deloitte, she spent time as a Director of Finance with the Clorox Company, a VP of Finance for a publicly traded manufacturer and 7 years as an accounting professor. Her research focused on the role of metrics in process improvement and during that time she was the recipient of the 1993 IMA and Price Waterhouse applied research grant that resulted in the first of four books including 2013’s Demand Driven Performance – Using Smart Metrics. She has been the driving force in the development and application of flow-based metrics and her clients span across all industries and five continents. She is a recognized Thought Leader in management accounting, The Theory of Constraints and Demand Driven methodology and practice. In 2001, she was elected to the founding board of TOCICO and served 7 years. In 2016, TOCICO awarded her their Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ken is an instructor for the APICS CPIM, CSCP, CLTD and Instructor Development Programs. He is also an instructor for the DDI DDP and DDL courses as well as a certified trainer for The Fresh Connection business simulation software from Inchainge.
Over the last 30 years, Ken has presented many papers and workshops at South African and overseas Supply Chain conferences. He is currently spending the majority of time promoting and presenting DDI DDMRP courses as well as implementing the methodology at his clients.
